Tired of Clichés? Pay Tribute to All Veterans with These Vintage Tablescapes!

November is already here, and Veterans' Day is just around the corner. If you are going to set the celebratory table, you’re likely to be at a loss – after Memorial Day, the 4th of July, and Labor Day, you may find yourself a bit reluctant to dress up your party space into that time-worn Stars and Stripes color palette once again. But how can you achieve that patriotic feel without overkilling the red, white and blue theme? Rest assured – muted tones, grandmother’s porcelain, and lots of blooms will tuck all your worries away. Check out these simple vintage setups and see for yourself!

Repurposed Tablescape

If you have a shabby-looking wood table, give a chance to this easy and budget-friendly repurposed vintage patriotic tablescape. To recreate this lovely makeshift table runner, you can use an old curtain, a folded tablecloth, a scarf, or whatever happens to be hanging around in your stash. In case you have none of these options, don’t fret – we suggest trying out our turquoise runner, getting creative with our light blue fabric bolt, or purchase a piece of white polyester and dye it light blue. Once you’re done with the runner, pull out our dinner plates, add plain burlap napkins (or craft ones using our striped burlap runner), and top everything off with silverware bundled up with a red/navy plaid ribbon. In case you are not a florist at heart, simply buy our bouquet of white silk roses, separate them in mismatched white Eiffel tower vases from our online store, and arrange them lengthwise. In the end, drape your backdrop wall with an American flag to signify the importance of the occasion.

Dust Off Your Favorite Porcelain

First up, lay your groundwork – choose a table runner with white and blue pattern (consider our gingham, chevron, or burlap runner with silver stripes) to evoke thoughts of the stripes on the American flag or just spread lace linens for a neutral display. To finish it off, use our white or ivory cotton napkins.

The next part is porcelain. In case there’s no grandmother’s treasured china dinnerware, wipe that frown away with our violet, pink, and blue chip-resistant chargers, which are slightly reminiscent of that Victorian epoch, while still surprisingly inexpensive. To go along with the blue stripes on the table runner, you can use our vintage goblets with blue bases and blue candle holders. For the centerpiece, opt for white daisies in mismatched Eiffel tower vases or go for our fluffy red hydrangeas in rustic wood boxes.

French Farmhouse Twist

If you are looking to something traditionally patriotic and unique at the same time, this French Farmhouse twist on classic American patriotic setup may be to your liking. To start, cover an ordinary farmhouse table with our ivory lace runner and complement it with our plain cotton napkins, which you can dye blue. To accommodate each guest with dinnerware, use our white plastic plates with geometric design, silverware, and clear glasses with silver rims. For the centerpiece, arrange our milk bottles filled with light blue baby breath flowers or opt for glass Coca-Cola bottles for some red accents.
